Long USD and EUR short extended by leveraged funds – Nomura

Analysts at Nomura point out that leveraged funds extended further USD longs in the week ending Tuesday 5 June as according to Nomura’s BIS volume-weighted measure, net-long USD positions reached 13% of outstanding contracts, the highest level since early January 2018 (previous: 9%).

EUR&GBP: EUR net-short positioning was extended again to 28%, the one-year high of net-shorts. Leveraged funds decreased GBP net-longs to 28% from 32% previously. The one-year high is 59% reached in early February.”

JPY&CHF: Leveraged funds' JPY positioning turned long again, which stood at 1%. On the other hand, CHF net-short positioning recorded one-year high of 56%.”

AUD&CAD: We saw short increases in leveraged fund AUD and CAD positioning, now both net-short at 23% and 41%, respectively.”
